MUMMY MOT
What is Mummy MOT?
The Mummy MOT is a specialist post-natal assessment recommended for all women following delivery – whether 6 weeks or many years after. Mary Kate, our wonderful and highly trained specialist, assesses the strength and function of the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles to help prevent long-term childbirth related complaints.
Who needs a Mummy MOT?
Here at Platinum Physiotherapy, we believe that any woman post-childbirth would hugely benefit from this service. Women’s health-related issues are not exclusively for amazing mums though, any woman can also benefit from our specialist women’s health assessment and treatment.
After having a baby, half of all mothers have a weakness in either their tummy or pelvic floor area and over a third suffer from chronic pelvic pain. This creates instability and poor core strength and results in altered transfer load, back pain, pelvic pain, bladder and bowel weakness.
A Mummy MOT helps women avoid these distressing and often embarrassing symptoms. Mary Kate, our Specialist Physiotherapist, provides a full assessment paying particular attention to the abdominals and pelvic floor to enable her to create a bespoke post-natal recovery programme devised especially for the individual client, her lifestyle and fitness goals, including specific and safe post-natal exercises to regain stability and optimum function.
