What is Clinical Pilates and how can it help?
Clinical Pilates is a Chartered Physiotherapist-led private 1:1 treatment system that combines Physiotherapy treatment principles with our state-of-the-art movement and Pilates equipment.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CLINICAL PILATES AND PRIVATE PILATES?
This is a question we often get asked. The main difference between Clinical Pilates and Private Pilates is the extent of training the instructor has undertaken.
The major difference is the expert and extensive knowledge of anatomy, and underlying pathologies of the body, that a Chartered Physiotherapist holds.
Our Physiotherapists undertake assessments on a wide range of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions which allow them to adjust, modify and choose the most accurate Pilates exercises for an individual.
This is especially important when dealing with the pathology of the spine and in particular for pregnant and post-natal mothers. It allows us to accurately and specifically adapt exercises if an injury is present or flares up.
Your first Clinical Pilates session will begin with a brief chat to discuss previous injuries you may have had. Together, we will establish short-term and long-term goals for your rehabilitative Pilates journey. We will then carry out a movement assessment that will be used to guide our Clinical Pilates treatment. Depending on the assessment results, where necessary, we can refer you to one of our Physiotherapy team members for hands-on treatment.
What to expect:
Discuss and understand present or past injuries
Set short-term and long-term goals
Movement assessment and plan
A safe environment to get you moving functionally
Improved quality of life
Through this process, we aim to provide a safe and effective environment for clients to move with the appropriate support from our expertly trained Physiotherapists.
Our ultimate goal is to get you moving functionally and pain-free in a safe environment. We take your personal limitations into account and aim to improve your quality of life within a few sessions.
Your Physiotherapist will closely monitor your progress, and when clinically indicated, you will be encouraged to progress into our group classes if you wish.
We are deeply passionate about Clinical Pilates at Platinum. We believe it is one of the most effective tools in helping our clients move from a place of limited movement, injury or pain to a body that is moving functionally and pain-free. If you are suffering or recovering from a sports injury, accident, work-related back pain or a pre or post-natal mother, Clinical Pilates with our highly-experienced Physiotherapists can be hugely beneficial on your journey to wellness.
